I just heard about the Green Deal Contest put on by London Drugs. Go to Greendeal.ca to enter a selfie of you recycling for a chance to win a grand prize of a 46" tv. "Contest is open to all residents of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba." Contest closes April 30, 2014.
I love these little stamp sets. They're a very cheap way to get stamps into my scrapbooking inventory, and I'm always looking for a deal. BTW I like to think of myself as frugal rather than cheap ;)
However, I needed a way to store them and so came up with this idea.
Take an old CD case and remove the jackets and the plastic insert that holds the CD.
Well, here's a trick when it comes time to box up the tree again for another year. As you take off the rows of branches keep them in their separate stacks.
You know, I've done a lot of camping in a tent over the years so I write this from experience.
We do car camping, not backpacking. I would Not suggest this for backpacking! ;)
Before we left home we emptied my husband's tool box and made it our kitchen cupboard.
We put the most-used items in the top so a spoon or the sparker for the stove was always ready and easy to find. We put all the spices in the middle drawer along with the drinks. The bottom drawer held the less-used kitchen utensils. The top drawer (which is not open in the photo) held all the ziploc and garbage bags.
We set this on the bench at the end of the picnic table. The camp stove always sits at the end of the picnic table so having this sit right there while we cooked was Handy. All four people in our family agreed that this was a big step up from the bins we usually use. At night, we stored it in the truck along with the food.

So, one day I was at a garage sale and I spotted this awesome galvanized tray. The only problem was it wasn't actually for sale. It was being used under their downspout. I offered them some money and since they were moving they sold it to me. We dumped out the water and sludge and I brought it home and cleaned it up. It's nice and deep so I was able to add a lot of gravel. Now, when we get home with wet, snowy, or muddy boots we put them onto this tray and the mess can drip there. The rocks camouflage the dried mud and the tray catches the melting snow so it can evaporate. It always looks good!
I installed this old Ikea curtain rod behind the door to our storage room. It is right off the entry so we have extra coats and shoes in the closet in here as well. It allows me to quickly see and find a matching pair of gloves. It also has the advantage of being able to air out wet mittens so they are good to go for the next round of snowman construction.
This particular curtain rod ring allows me to pinch a clothes pin. I got out the pliers and really mashed it into the wood so it won't slip out. As you can see, this is an old curtain rod. It's rusty, and consequently, it's been demoted from curtain duty. I am a strong believer in finding the studs when installing rods and shelves (or at least using anchors for one side). That is why the left side is snug against the door jam and so there is no room for a finial. That's all right for here because no one Ever sees it in this location. This would also work with S-hooks and binder clips to hold the bulkier mitts. Or, use a zip tie to hold a binder clip.
This has worked for me and my two girls for a few years now. We also use a bin in the closet for the bulkier
Stay warm. Stay cozy.
So, this is how I'd been storing all my necklaces. Outgrown the storage, wouldn't you think? Every time I wanted a necklace there would need to be time allotted for detangling the mess. Not so handy. But, the birds are so pretty, I'll need to find a new use for it.
I picked up the mail a couple days ago and found a letter from AMA . They are inviting everyone to a free shredding event in Camrose, AB on Saturday, June 8. 10 am-2 pm. They will shred up to 6 boxes for free. Here's a link for more information. This would be great for anyone on a paper clear-out rampage!
I heard of a super easy idea from a friend (thanks Vanessa) to keep your vehicle tidy. She keeps a dispenser of those rolled dog waste bags in the vehicle. Then there is always a tiny garbage bag on hand for the quick car clean-up.
Welcome to my thoughts. :)
I wanted a place to be able to share things like organizing tips, an inspiring quote, or useful links as I come across them. A blog seemed like a good venue to drop these into, though I really have no plans of keeping up with writing a weekly entry. I just want a spot to jot down and pass along useful tidbits. This way, topics are searchable, making it oh so handy.
